My Blog!

December 2, 2017

I have some exciting plans that I would like to share.

I have been putting a lot of thought into where I want my practice to go and how I want it to develop it.  I have decided that it is time to acquire space outside of my home to see my clients in!

My intuition, my friends and business colleagues, and my mentors have given feedback and based on all considerations it is now time for me to make this transition!

I am excited to start looking for the location that will suit my practice. Ultimately, I would like to choose a location that supports other complimentary therapies or holistic practices; and, that will have a nice vibration for my clients.

I want a place that I can rent out to my business colleagues who are in need of office space to see their own clients and for special events.  I love the idea of office sharing as it keeps everyone's expenses down and it also gives us a chance to develop a network within London's holistic community.

Stay tuned for my details! I will post an update as soon as I have one!

Namaste!

Reader feedback and an update about Radiant Reiki and Aromatherapy by Tammy

October 22, 2017

I have to apologize to my readers for not having made any posts in my blog since August 2017!  I want to thank Julia, a reader who emailed me, for letting me know that you enjoy my blog!  It was a reminder for me to ensure that I keep up with posting.

There are many new things happening with Radiant Reiki and Aromatherapy by Tammy since my last post.  Last week I took my aroma - massage course at Joy Essence Aromatherapy.  I met 6 wonderful ladies that were taking the course as well and who are all getting ready to write the certification exam just as I am.  It was a wonderful week full of giving and receiving aroma - massages to one another while learning.  Joy Watson and Julie Fischer were amazing mentors and instructors and it truly was an honour to be taught by women who are pioneers of aromatherapy and who are instrumental in ensuring that aromatherapy and the Canadian Federation of Aromatherapists are using evidence - based research as a driving force in this wonderful complimentary form of medicine.

This past week was a very transformational week for myself and my fellow practitioners.  There were many breakthroughs for each of us both personally and professionally and we developed a real sense of kinship amongst us as well as with Joy and Julie.  To be put simply, it was a magical week.  It renewed my desire to make a difference by offering Aromatherapy as a complimentary medicine as part of my holistic practice.

I am very pleased that I will be able to offer aroma - massage just in time for the holiday season.  I may even be able to start a bit sooner depending on how quickly I get my 30 case studies done and am able to go back to JoyEssence to complete my final exam.  It shouldn't take me long to complete my case studies as I am offering  free aroma - massages to my close friends and family in order to complete my case studies. I have many in my circle who are excited to take me up on this offer!

Another new development that I am pleased to share is that I have been working with my essential oil wholesaler closely on designing branding for my own essential oil products!  I am starting with being able to offer a line of Aura cleansers, Chakra essential oil kits, and my own oils for retailing as well as a line of diffusers.  I will still be creating custom blends for my clients as required and requested and for their individual needs; however, I will also be offering oils for those who wish to dabble in creating their own blends.

In case you were not aware, I also work part - time outside of my practice, in a long - term care facility.  I really enjoy being able to interact with residents of this long - term care facility and I feel that this is part of my purpose.   The residents inspire me in so many ways and give me the chance to be of service within the senior community and hopefully to make a positive impact in a small way.

Lastly, I want to thank Julia for reaching out and emailing me.  I enjoy interacting with all of you who are engaged with me via this website blog!  Please message me with any questions, requests for information, or suggestions for topics for this blog!  If you would like an answer to a question please email me directly at [email protected]  I check this email account regularly and will respond to you directly as well as honour any requests regarding my blog as well.

I will be writing more frequently now and apologize for the gap in communication!

Namaste,

Tammy

There is no room for competition amongst holistic healers.

November 5, 2017

Something came to my attention this morning that I feel I need to discuss in my blog.

I have always felt that healers within any practice should be working together and not against each other.  Getting upset about someone else who has a business in Reiki or Aromatherapy, for me, would be completely counter productive.  There are so many people that reach out for help that there are more than enough clients to go around.

Clients will either be drawn to you or to some other practitioner who may be a better fit for many reasons.  I truly wish that everyone that comes my way for Reiki, Aromatherapy or Aroma - massage continue with me.  If a person chooses not to come back I may not have been the right person to treat them.  That is okay.  I want everyone who chooses me as his or her holistic practitioner to vibe with me.  That is an essential part of developing a trusting and person - centered relationship with clients.

I support my fellow Reiki and Aromatherapy practitioners.  We are all here to make a difference in other people's lives.  We are all on the same path.  There is no need for competition between us.

Our Latest Blog Entry

August 19, 2017

I recently read a blog by Dr. Tieraona Low Dog MD regarding our culture's need to be busy to prove that we are worth something to others.  Her reflection for the day was to SLOW DOWN and enjoy life!

My take on the state of our culture is very similar to Dr. Low Dog's insightful blog.  I believe that large corporations and our consumerist society have led us to believe that if we are not always busy and rushing around to get things done, to accumulate more money or more belongings, than there is something wrong with us.  This is not realistic and certainly not sustainable for the every day person.

I have struggled with the concept of slowing down and doing something I love over the past year of my life and I have come to believe that by buying into the concept  that if I am not busy I am not worthy  very ill - both on the physical and mental levels of life.

There are signs of burn out, mental health issues including suicide, and rebellion against this mindset all over the place.   A good example of this is the sheer number of medical residents that have committed suicide while in medical school or in their residency.  The amount of pressure that is put on these individuals to succeed and the levels to which one must rise to even be accepted into pre-medical, medical school and residency is horrifying.  This is only one example.  Talk to someone who gave up on being a stock broker because of the sacrifice and toll his/her profession put on health and family.  Speak with someone who has worked for the government and was in a workplace where you were used and driven until you eventually burnt out because you had nothing left to give.  And be sure to speak to the family that two parents are doing their best to support with wages that just barely cover the mortgage, bills, food, clothing and medical expenses it takes to raise a family and have no time to spend with their children because of it.

We have been served the poisonous kool-aid and the majority of us have gulped it down.  Rushing at our jobs, rushing to get the kids to their extra curricular activities, rushing to get back home, rushing to get the chores done, and then rushing to get some sleep.  When the alarm wakes us up in the morning we step back onto the same treadmill.

I have chosen to slow down and take time to smell the roses. I am working hard to build my Reiki and Aromatherapy practice out of a passion to help others.  I hold a part - time job in a field that gives me great joy.  I have plenty of time to spend on self - care to ensure that I am effective at everything I choose to do; and, it feels great that I have created an environment in which I can do that. My old lifestyle certainly did not allow for such luxuries as taking enough time to enjoy every part of my day instead of rushing through it.

All I ask of you, the reader, is to take the time to slow down and enjoy life.  Enjoy your job. Enjoy your family. Enjoy your time with friends. Take care of yourself.  There is nothing wrong with being busy once in awhile.  There is something wrong when your whole life operates in a busy frenzy.

Food for thought!

Namaste,

Tammy

I read this article today and it resonated with me.  Using essential oils safely is of the utmost importance.  While I do not have anything against those who think differently, I myself do not support ingesting essential oils "straight out of the bottle".  Please read this very important article.

Happy Summer!

June 27, 2017

Much has happened since my last blog post!  The Summer Solstice has come and gone, school is ending for the year for many children, and the world is still a very mixed up place.

I have found that since I have made Reiki a part of my every day life that I am much more introspective about the events that happen around me.  I am able to define more clearly where someone elses's personality stops and mine starts in any interaction I have.  I am able to remain balanced and calm when I recognize that someone else's reaction is just that - their reaction.  I am loving this! The third thing that has happened is that I have set up my boundaries as to who I allow in my intimate circle and that I find I attract more genuine and caring people and attract those who are like - minded to me.  I respect all others, but that does not mean they are always healthy for my well - being.

My wish for everyone is that you find the same balance and self - love in your life as I have in mine.  For me, Reiki and Aromatherapy helped play a part in who I am today.  Do whatever works for you!
